The 1999 National Junior Open, 7th - 9th April

This is the first year the National Junior Open has been run . It is being run by ACTs top Chess Coach Geoff Butler . This tournament is a great idea . It gives Juniors a chance to test their skills against the best in the Country . The top juniors dont get to play each other often as Australias population is scattered and it makes travelling to tournaments expensive. It also gives the juniors a good opportuntiy to play in both the Doeberl Cup and then the National Open. The National Junior Open is also a warm up for the Australian Junior. What a great idea Geoff ! Keep up the hard work.
